Work: Local Community Tutor
Just after the summer of my junior year, I started tutoring students around the area in everything from SAT/ACT test preparation and high school math to tournament level chess. Not only was I able to earn myself some spending money, but I learned some real world business skills about newspaper advertising, time management, and the importance of repeat customers.
With six regular clients during this time, I realized that I really do enjoy teaching something that I have interest in. Unfortunately, I had to stop the tutoring business when I graduated high school because I joined the development team of the PSC and subsequently enrolled in Carnegie Mellon.
